The canals in Venice Beach, CA are beautiful - but, one time I visited them there seemed to be what looked like an oil slick everywhere, and the waters were very still and dark. I was shocked to see this pristine white egret fishing in this muck , and why he wasn't stained black was quite a mystery.....talk about a contradiction!

"Contradiction II"
The canals in Venice Beach, CA are beautiful - but, one time I visited them there seemed to be what looked like an oil slick everywhere, and the waters were very still and dark.
