Florida Manatee

This began as a pencil drawing. I then went over the entire piece with soft vine charcoal and smoothed it over using a bristle brush. Then I lifted the charcoal with a kneaded eraser. So many times I see photos of manatees with interesting water reflections on their backs. I have always thought those reflections look much like the scars left on them from boat propellers. Very sad, the demise of the manatee. (time: 1 hr.)
