"Elephant Blues"

I think the only time elephants look happy is when they're rolling around in a mud hole. Just standing there - they seem to look very sad.....like this one.

This is pencil and charcoal on translucent vellum. The background was done on the back side of the vellum. I like the tooth of this paper, and it's very good for pencil work. Layering of colors using pastels doesn't work.
